5 reasons milk is not good for you


While there is a refreshing feeling that comes with taking in milk, that feeling could be harmful to your bones – specifically any milk coming from another animal. You have to be aware of what goes in your body in form of food, so that you can see the importance of eating pure foods and to see which foods are good for your body. There are lots of unhealthy foods and milk is one of them.

Here are five reasons why milk is bad for you:

Unwanted Ingredients

Under current industrial methods, cow’s milk is often a toxic bovine brew of man-made ingredients like bio-engineered hormones, antibiotics (55% of U.S. antibiotics are fed to livestock), and pesticides—all of which are bad for us and the environment. Also, the medicine pumped into livestock often re-visit us in our water supply.

Increased Risk of Osteoporosis

According to the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, “The countries with the highest rates of osteoporosis are the ones where people drink the most milk and have the most calcium in their diets. The connection between calcium consumption and bone health is actually very weak, and the connection between dairy consumption and bone health is almost nonexistent.”

Weight Gain

Milk has a lot of calories and will make it difficult to lose weight. One cup of 2% milk has 138 calories, for instance. Drinking three cups a day adds 366 calories to the diet, which is a lot for anyone watching their weight. You want to make sure that you don’t hinder your own health/fitness goal from being met.

Hinders Drug Action

Let’s say you just had a bowl of cereal. You just had that cereal because it’s good to eat before taking your drugs and you’ve chosen this as that food. If you take medicine after consuming milk or any food containing milk, it will reduce the medicine’s effectiveness. This is called Chelates, which means the presence of calcium that’s usually inside milk binds to the medicine, making them inactive.

Risk Exposure to Bacteria

Milk peddled by the roadside are mostly unpasteurized. Taking in unpasteurized milk exposes you to serious risk(s) as, it contains a lot of harmful bacteria like shigella, e.coli and cholera. Also, certain in cases where there are outbreaks from certain diseases, you need to be more particular about your level of milk intake, as they can be cause microbial infections.
